Introduction of the Heidenhain PWM 3000, February 2026

HEIDENHAIN offers a diagnostics and adjustment package for HEIDENHAIN encoders with absolute and incremental interfaces. It consists of two components: the PWM inspection device and the ATS software. The inspection device that has been available to date, the PWM 21, is now being succeeded by the PWM 3000. The reasons for this replacement are as follows: • The availability of parts for the PWM 21 • To adapt to the requirements of state-of-the-art encoders and interfaces within the HEIDENHAIN GROUP • Greater flexibility for servicing encoders

E-Motion supplies Heidenhain Diagnostics kit PWM 3000 (ID: 1454173-01) for encoder diagnostics.

Important improvements in ATS V4.2.0:With version 4.2 or later, the ATS software supports the PWM 3000, PWM 21, and PWM 20 inspection devices. Future functions of the ATS software will be provided for all inspection devices. The PWM 20 and PWM 21 devices currently in the field can therefore continue to be used. Due to the expanded capabilities of the PWM 3000, there will also be functions exclusively for it. For example, the following functions are possible solely with the PWM 3000: • In the future, mounting wizards for HEIDENHAIN GROUP encoders will be supportable by the PWM 3000 because the PWM 3000 supports the mounting interface of these encoders. The PWM 20 and PWM 21 do not support this mounting interface and therefore cannot be used. • Support for encoders with high requirements regarding signal bandwidth and accuracy • Stand-alone operation • Connectivity for USB-based devices (e.g., USB flash drive) • Use of the expanded capabilities of the AUX connection
Note
The ATS V4.2.0 supports the PWM 3000 with the exception of signal inspection, which is an exclusive function available only with the “Service department” license option and will not be available until the next released version. Time frame
