Advanced Servo Drive Solutions

Elmo's SimplIQ digital servo drives combine high power density, intelligent functionality and space-friendly design. The drives integrate Elmo's advanced, SimplIQ motion control core technology, which enables superior control performance, offers advanced programming capabilities and supports standard communication protocols. All the drives in the series include a fully digital motion controller that features current, velocity and position loops and a wide range of commutation types and position feedbacks. The result: higher dynamics and increased precision for a wide variety of implementations.

Differences Between Gold and SimplIQ Servo Drives

  • Gold servo drives have a higher and wider servo performance Bandwidth, Current, Velocity, Position, Dual Loop, Gantry, etc. The Gold Line has a significantly wider current (Torque) and dynamic range.

  • SimplIQ servo drives support CANopen Communication.

  • Gold servo drives support EtherCAT & CANopen, and real-time of the latter is significantly improved.

  • Gold servo drives support any feedback and have higher capabilities, performance and flexibilities in feedback manipulation for dual loops, Gantry, MIMO, etc.


DC Trombone
Series

Compact, Panel-mounted Network-based Servo drive (from 6 A/400 V to 16 A/800 V).


The DC Trombone is a compact, panel-mounted digital
servo drive that weighs 650 g (22.9 oz) and offers up to 10 kW of continuous power.


The digital drives are based on Elmo’s advanced SimplIQ motion control technology. They operate from a DC power source in current, velocity, position and advanced position modes, in conjunction with a permanent-magnet synchronous brushless motor, DC brush motor, linear motor or voice coil. They are designed for use with any type of sinusoidal and trapezoidal commutation, with vector control. The DC Trombone can operate as a standalone device or as part of a multi-axis system in a distributed configuration on a real-time network.


The drives are easily set up and tuned using Elmo’s Composer software tools. This Windows-based application enables users to quickly and simply configure the servo drive for optimal use with their motor. The DC Trombone, as part of the SimplIQ product line, is fully programmable with Elmo’s Composer
motion control language.


The DC Trombone is available in two versions:

  • The Standard DC Trombone is a basic servo drive which operates in current, velocity and position modes including Follower and PT & PVT. It operates simultaneously via RS-232 and CANopen DS 301, DS 305, DS 402 communications and features a third generation programming environment. (The catalog number starts TRO but is not followed by an A.)

  • The Advanced DC-Trombone includes all the motion capabilities and communication options included in the Standard model, as well as advanced positioning capabilities:
    a. ECAM, Dual Loop and increased program size. (The catalog number starts DCTROA.)
    b. Both versions operate with RS-232 and CANopen communication.
